Introduction and Credit

Over the years, I have found that handouts can be a very effective resource for students who need specific advice or information on problems they are experiencing in their learning process.  The major drawback to handouts is that they are often not available to the student when needed and the process of getting the handouts via an institutional bureaucracy is often problematic.

What follows is a compilation of English and ESL related handouts which I have found useful over the years.  As often happens with this kind of resource, many of the handouts have been handed down from one instructor to another, often with changes and revisions made along the way.  About 40% of the 200 or so handouts in this collection are of my creation while the remainder have come down to me from other sources.  A number of these handouts were originally associated with the resource collections of Purdue University and the University of California.

By posting these handouts, I hope to make them easily available to my student (and anyone else who might benefit from them).
